Arvatov served in the 9th Reconnaissance Air Detachment, and later as commander of the 4th Air Detachment during the Russian Civil War. He received three Order of the Red Banner awards, the first in 1921 followed by two additional awards in 1924[1].
In 1924 Arvatov participated in a flight of R-1s from Termez to Kabul, led by Pyotr Mezheraup[2]. On Spetember 20, 1926, Arvatov flew a Junkers 13 non-stop 1200km from Kabul to Tashkent[3].
Arvatov appears to have been married to the daughter of Mikhail Tukhachevsky, Elizaveta Nikolaevna Tukhachevsky[4], and was likely arrested in July, 1937 in connection with the father's arrest. He was working at an airline at the time. He was executed on December 10, 1937[5].
