[edit] Biography

Arzhenukhin served in the Red Army from 1920 and served in the ground forces during the Russian Civil War[1].

Arzhenukhin attended the Egorevsk Aviation School in 1922, and the Borisoglebsk Military Pilots School in 1923. He also attended the Serpukhovsk School of Air Combat and served as an flight instructor[1].

Starting in 1928, he held a variety of command positions, including assistant chief of staff for the 3rd Aviation Brigade (1927-28), commander of a unit within the 3rd Aviation Brigade (1928-30), commander of the 21st Independent Aviation Brigade (1930-31), commander of the 57th Aviation Squadron (1931-32), and senior flight inspector in the Air Force Inspector General office (1932-34)[1].

He attended the Military Air Academy (Zhukovskii?) from 1934-36, after which he served as operations chief in the 1st Department of Air Force Headquarters[1].

Between 1937 and 1938, he served as chief of staff for the 4th Heavy Bomber Corps, assistant military attache in Spain, and advisor to the commander of air forces for the Northern Front[1].

He served as Air Force Chief of Staff from 1938-1940[1].

In 1940, he was named commander of the Air Force Command and Navigation Staff Academy[1].

He was arrested on June 28, 1941, and later executed[1].
