Col. John Boyd can justifiably be described as both a genius and a visionary in the field of air-to-air combat tactics. Paradoxically, he flew only briefly in combat during the Korean War had no official kills; he did not receive the fame and glory given to ace pilots, yet the magnitude and importance of his contributions to the US Air Force were greater and longer lasting than could be accomplished by simply shooting down enemy aircraft.
