Brieftauben Abteilung Ostende (BAO), "Carrier Pigeon Section at Ostend", was a special German air unit formed early in World War I to carry out concentrated bombing operations. The BAO was directly subordinate to the German high command, Oberste Heersleitung (OHL), and had a strength of about four Flieger Abteilungen.
