[edit] Biography

Buob completed the Sevastapol (Kachinsk) Military Aviation School in September, 1915. He initially served at the front as a reconnaissance and fighter pilot[1].

In January, 1916 Buob was transferred to a unit responsible for defending the Imperial palace. He served in that unit until it was reformed in March, 1917 and he returned to his previous duties[1].

In February, 1918 the unit that Buob was serving in joined the Red Army and began to fight on the Eastern Front and against the White forces led by General Denikin[1].

In July, 1919 Buob made a flight from Orenburg over enemy forces to Chelkar in order to communicate with Red forces on the Turkestan Front. On his return trip he was forced to make an emergency landing amongst the enemy forces, and was captured and sentenced to be shot. He managed to escape and return to his unit and continue serving on the South-Western Front. For his feats he was awarded an Order of the Red Banner. He also reportedly served as the personal pilot for Trotsky[1].

After the Russian Civil War Buob worked as a test pilot and later as a civilian pilot. He perished on January 18, 1930 in an airplace accident[1].
