SIGINT

SIGINT, or SIGnals INTelligence, refers to intelligence gathered through the interception and analysis of electromagnetic signals. SIGINT has several subdisciplines, including most commonly COMINT (COMmunications INTelligence), which focuses on communications between people, and ELINT (ELectronic INTelligence), which focuses on non-communications signals emitted by electronic devices. SIGINT has played a role in airpower-related intelligence, at both the strategic and tactical levels, since World War II.
