Also Known As: Chiapas Crisis, Zapatista Uprising, Zapatista Crisis Remarks: A brief, armed uprising in the Mexican state of Chiapas, which saw the first significant use of Mexican airpower in several decades.

• January 1, 1994 Armed rebels belonging to the Zapatista Army of National Liberation begin an uprising in the Mexican state of Chiapas^[1].

• January 12, 1994 A cease-fire is declared, bringing an end to armed conflict during the Chiapas Uprising^[1].
