Efimov attended technical school in Odessa to be a telegraph technician. He went to France and learned to fly at the Farman aviation school. He returned to Russia and participated in exhibition flights prior to becoming an instructor at the Sevastopol aviation school[1].
During World War I, Efimov served as a fighter pilot, serving with the Black Sea Fleet from the end of 1916[1].
After the Russian Revolution, Efimov joined the Bolsheviks but after the capture of Odessa by the Whites in 1919 he was arrested and executed[1].
