Falaleev joined the Red Army in 1919. He completed the "Vystrel" (Gunshot) commander's course in 1928. In 1933 he completed the Kachinsk Military Aviation School, and in 1934 completed the Zhukovskii Military Air Academy[1].
He commanded an air squadron from January, 1935 to August, 1936, and then commanded the 116th Aviation Brigade from August, 1936 to August, 1939. In August, 1939 he became deputy commander of air forces for the 3rd Army and the Vitebsk Army Group. In June, 1940 he became commander of air forces for the 1st Independent Red Banner Army in the Soviet Far East. In January, 1941 he became Inspector General of Aviation for the Red Army Air Forces, and a few months later in April, 1941 became 1st Deputy Commander of the Red Army Air Forces[1].
In the opening months of World War II, Falaleev served as commander of air forces for the 6th Army, and later commander of air forces for the South-Western Front. In October, 1942 he became chief of staff and deputy commander of the Air Forces, and then in May 1943 switched entirely to the role of deputy commander. He was promoted to the rank of Marshal of Aviation on August, 19, 1944[2]. In April, 1945 he again became both chief of staff and deputy commander of the Air Forces[1].
After the War, Falaleev served as commander of the Gagarin Military Air Academy from 1946 to 1950[1].
He went into retirement in 1950 due to illness[1].
