Remarks: The Italo-Turkish War (Sept. 1911-Oct. 1912) was fought between Italy and the Ottoman Empire in the Ottoman provinces of Tripolitania and Cyrenaica (modern day Libya), and witnessed the first use of aerial bombing and aerial reconnaissance conducted from an airplane.

The Italo-Turkish War (Sept. 1911-Oct. 1912) was fought between Italy and the Ottoman Empire. The main action in the war was the Italian seaborne invasion of the Ottoman provinces of Tripolitania and Cyrenaica (both in modern day Libya). The war included several firsts in the history of military aviation.

Italy sent the First Aeroplane Flotilla along with their Expeditionary Force, consisting of a total of nine aircraft (two Blériot XIs, three Nieuport IV monoplanes, two Farman biplanes, and two Etrich Taube monoplanes)[1] and eleven pilots, led by Capt. Carlo Piazza[2].
