Korotaev was promoted to the rank of Brigade Commander on November 28, 1935^[1].

Korotaev served as commander of the 26th Heavy Bomber Aviation Brigade in 1937^[2].

Korotaev was promoted to Major General of Aviation on May 7, 1940^[3].

During World War II, Korotaev served as commander of rear services (Начальник тыла) for the 4th Air Army during the Battle for Berlin^[4].
