Lavrov completed the School of Naval Aviation in 1917. In 1918 he joined the Red Army and served in the Russian Civil War, where he commanded an air detachment from 1918-1920[1].
From October, 1920 to September, 1921 he served as Assistant Chief of the Organization Section in the Headquarters of the Main Directorate of the Workers-Peasant's Red Air Fleet[1].
Starting in 1925, he served as Commander of the Black Sea Fleet Air Forces, Deputy Chief of Staff of the RKKA Air Forces, Chief of the Air Force Scientific Testing Institute (NII), and Inspector of the RKKA Air Forces. From 1934 to 1937, he served as the Chief of Staff of the RKKA Air Forces[1]. Additionally, in 1936 he served as the Managing Editor for the Air Fleet Herald[1].
Lavrov was arrested on July 29, 1937, and accused of being part of a "Military-Fascist Conspiracy". He was executed on July 29, 1938[2].
