Moscow Aeronautical Society

The Moscow Aeronautical Society (Московское Общество Воздухоплавания (МОВ)) was formed on March 31, 1910. Its founders included Russian scientist Prof. Zhukovskii. In 1911 the club organized the Moscow Aviation School of the Moscow Aeronautical Society for training military pilots and mechanics, re-training pilots on new aircraft types, and conducting experiments with new aviation equipment and armaments. At the end of 1917 the society ceased operations, aside from the aviation school, which had been under military control since 1916. In October, 1917 many of the school's personnel took active part in the revolution and founded the "1st Moscow Aviation School" which was the largest pilot training school during the Russian civil war[1].
