Remarks: Major Soviet offensive operation conducted in June-August 1944 to destroy German Army Group Center and liberate Belorussia and some of eastern Poland

The Soviets had overwhelming numerical superiority in air forces for the battle[1], including:

  • 2,318 fighters (organized in 21 fighter divisions)
  • 1,744 ground attack aircraft (Il-2s, 14 divisions)
  • 1,662 medium bombers (in 8 divisions under Front control plus 16 strategic divisions)
  • 431 light night bombers (6 divisions)
  • 179 reconnaissance aircraft

For a total of 6,334 aircraft.
