[edit] Biography

Shidlovskii was born on July 20, 1856. He graduated from the Naval Cadets Corps and served as an officer in the Russian fleet. He later completed the Alexandrovsk Military Law Academy, after which he went into the reserves and took up a position in the State Chancellory. He later moved to a position in the Finance Ministry[1].

Shidlovskii became the chairman of the Russo-Baltic Wagon Company. In 1912 the company opened a factory in St. Petersburg, and in August, 1913, work began there on the Ilya Muromets heavy aircraft[1].

In December, 1914, Shidlovskii was called back into active military service with the rank of Major General and was made commander of the "Heavy Aircraft Squadron", responsible for operating the Ilya Muromets[1].

In April, 1917, Shidlovskii was accused of incompetence by the Provisional Government and was removed from his post. In August, 1918, he was arrested and executed[1].
